Letting Rules on the Isle of Man

Did you know?

All Homestay properties on the Isle of Man must be registered with the Department for Enterprise. Homestay IOM Ltd runs the official Homestay Scheme on behalf of the Government to make sure every property meets legal, safety, and quality standards.

By registering, you help keep visitors safe and ensure they enjoy a great stay.

A comprehensive Host information pack can be found here.

How the Process Works

Follow these simple steps to get started:

  1. Review the Information Pack
Download and read the comprehensive Host Information Pack to familiarise yourself with the requirements and guidelines for registering your property.
  2. Complete Your Online Registration
Fill out the online registration form with your personal and property details and select the package that best suits your needs.
  3. Make Payment Online
Once you’ve completed your registration, you can securely pay for your chosen package online — quick and easy.
  4. Access Your Host Online Portal
After registration and payment, you’ll receive access to your Host Online Portal. Here, you can upload required documentation (such as proof of fire blanket, carbon monoxide alarm, and boiler service certificate), add your property description, upload photos, and update your availability.
  5. Arrange an Inspection
Once your documents and property details are in place, we’ll contact you to schedule an inspection to ensure your property meets all required Homestay standards.

Important Notes

Non-Refundable Fee:

Please ensure your property meets the criteria outlined in the Information Pack before completing registration and payment. As the registration fee is non-refundable, it’s important to check that your property can meet the required standards before proceeding.

Document Uploads:

All supporting documents (such as proof of fire safety equipment, carbon monoxide alarm, and boiler service certificates) must be uploaded via your Host Online Portal before an inspection can be arranged.

Safety First:

Adhering to our standards is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors staying in your accommodation.
